Pools are a great source of exercise and can be very entertaining for people of all ages. They are also prone to problems and can be costly to upkeep. Cleaning and adding chemicals to keep a healthy balance in the water can be tedious. There are ways to help minimize the amount of maintenance required, and one of those ways is to make use of an outdoor shower. This rinses away products used on the body and hair that can contribute to excess chemicals in the water and require the use of more pool chemicals.

Visitors to public pools, indoor and outdoor, require swimmers to shower before using the facilities. Preventing all of those chemicals in personal products as well as those found in laundry soap and dryer sheets or fabric softener end up in the pool water is key. They can wreak havoc with the balance of chemical treatments and require more frequent cleanings and the addition of even more, chemicals to counteract them.

Outdoor showers come in many different forms. Even the most simple forms, like a special bag that can hold enough water for a few people to rinse before requiring refilling is sufficient. These hang from a tree or structure and the water is warmed by the sun. They are very inexpensive but will do the job. The only downfall is that unless they are refilled with warm water, they can be unpleasant to use until the water heats up.

Of course, there are elaborate and expensive options for a shower as well. A simple internet search can provide a number of businesses that specialize in building them. Some are so beautiful that the owners may prefer showering outside! Many of these are tied into household plumbing and offer the same water temperature options that are found in an indoor, traditional one.

Simple and more complex designs can also be built by the homeowner at far less of a cost than hiring a company to build it. If the tools, expertise and time are available, the internet offers many plans for the handyman and the plans can be found for little or no cost. Building a custom shower that complements the landscape and decor can be very fulfilling.

An outdoor shower is only effective when it is used by everyone before they enter the water. Ensure that guests understand how important it is to use it before going for a dip. Make it a habit to use it each and every time and enjoy the benefits of a cleaner, healthier pool.

Keep in mind that the shower does not need to be used exclusively for prior to swimming use. Rinsing the pool chemicals from skin and swimwear after swimming is important too. It is especially beneficial if the water is treated with chlorine which is harsh and can cause skin irritation, hair discoloration and fading to swimwear.

Help family and guests to understand the importance of using the shower both before and swimming. Enforce the rule of use and it will become habit for everyone, making the water easier to maintain and helping to save money on treatment chemicals.
