After a while, you might find that the methods you have been using to do somet, have become redundant. For teachers this can be dangerous, as it will also affect how your students perform. Instructional rounds in education, help ensure that you keep learning about new methods . This exercise has been borrowed from the rounds that doctors conduct, to observe juniors.

The whole exercise can be divide into a number of sections. Essentially, the participants are grouped, then the person observing them will be present for their individual lessons. After this, they will meet and share their opinions about what they observed. Because this is to be used as a learning tool, you should embrace the use of appreciative inquiry in place of negative criticism.

When conducting this exercise, it is advisable to work with small groups at a time. You can choose to pick about three or five teachers per group. You can ask them to volunteer for the study or choose the people you would like to participate. This will make it easier for you to monitor them and not feel overworked.

These activities can be handled within one specific school or you can have teachers from other schools. Both options will give positive results, but when you involve instructors from other schools, you allow them to step out of their comfort zone. This can expose them to new techniques which they can apply.

During this activity, there can be different results. A person may choose to adapt a teaching technique they saw, which they think can be effective. They may choose to incorporate some different techniques from other people in order to improve their methods. They may also choose to completely discard of a particular method.

Sometimes as the term progresses, your staff may start to look bored and unmotivated when at work. This is a good method to make sure that they get back on track. These exercises have been seen to leave the teacher more energized. It can be a good thing to start doing in the middle of the school term, to ensure they stay motivated.

When informing the teachers of the occurrence of these rounds, you need to be very clear in order for them not be perceived as a mode of evaluation.This will keep them at ease through the study. In case they start to panic, they may end doing things that may affect the authenticity of the process. Having a familiar face, can also make this process easier. This, however, does not mean you should rule out having an outsider conducting the process. This will guarantee you information that is not biased.

In most cases, due to the small size of the groups, the whole process should take a very short time . The results you get, can then be incorporated into the daily routines of the teacher and will have long-term impacts on their performance. You can choose to start the process within your school, then over time involve other schools.
